Housekeeping Team

Wednesdays: 9am - 2pm
One weekend per month: Saturday (9am-3pm) and Sunday (10am-2pm)
Extra hours will be available ad hoc

Located in rural Gloucestershire with little public transport, any applicant would require their own transport.

The person is required to be:

  • Comfortable with and have a good understanding of the Christian ethos of the Centre
  • Self-motivated and willing to work flexibly as part of a team
  • Able to cope with the physical demands of the work
  • Enthusiastic, helpful and able to interact with guests, colleagues and visitors with gentleness and politeness
  • Focused on providing excellent hospitality and ensuring a high standard of cleanliness


The job entails:

  • Assist with washing up, clearing the dining area and setting tables for meals
  • Setting up refreshments and serving to guests as needed
  • Assisting with laundry
  • In the Manor House, The Stable and The Barn ensure all allocated public rooms, toilets / bathrooms and open areas remain clean and tidy
  • Ensure all allocated Manor House bedrooms / en suites are clean and are made ready for incoming guests if needed (bed-making, dusting, cleaning floors and bathrooms)

Assistant Chef 

The Harnhill Centre is seeking someone for the full time role of Assistant Chef. The Centre is based 3 miles south east of Cirencester. It has been in existence since 1986, and seeks to bring God’s healing to all who come. The Centre is residential and hosts training days and conferences in addition to prayer ministry through appointments. Located in rural Gloucestershire with little public transport, any applicant would require their own transport.

The Assistant Chef will work under the guidance of The Head Chef to ensure the preparation of food in both the Manor House and Barn Conference Centre kitchens is to a high standard. All meals are prepared by the chef team, ranging from buffet breakfast / lunches to main meals, with numbers from 8-150.

Hours: Average 30 hours per week. These hours will vary depending on the needs of the kitchen and guests.

The person is required to be:

  • Experienced working in a catering environment (minimum 2 years), with a valid level 2 Food Hygiene certificate
  • Comfortable with and have a good understanding of the Christian ethos of the Centre
  • Flexible, focused, self-motivated and organised
  • Polite and able to work well with others, including staff, volunteers and guests
  • A person of enthusiasm, calmness and common sense
  • Willing and able to learn quickly


The job entails:

  • Working with the Head Chef for the provision of meals as required
  • Providing cover for the Head Chef during their annual leave and taking responsibility for meal preparation during these times
  • Planning of menu’s and catering for special diets
  • Ensuring a clean and hygienic kitchen environment is maintained in compliance with food preparation hygiene standards. This includes ensuring staff and volunteers receive the appropriate guidance
  • Ordering of the kitchen and food supplies in the absence of the Head Chef
